We enjoyed ourselves so much at the Rural Skills Centre, Cardiff in March that we are back again for a summer workshop on June 16th 2018. Come and join us for a lovely day in the country at Marshfields, near Cardiff. You can book online through the RSC website.

We’ve planned to get outside, weather permitting so bring suitable clothing.

Horses for courses on this countryside farm

Comfy couches, candles spread calm

Rural Skills Centre, the place to learn

Serene settings, logs crackle and burn

Clever crafts – words to read

Inspiration to nurture that seed

I did creative writing with Jacqui and Jan

Can you write? Of course, you can.

Away from the stress this place to create

Hidden tranquillity off the A48.

We left stress behind

Unlocked the mind

Ideas surfaced throughout the unwind.

On arrival we had our fill

Of scrumptious cakes baked by Gill

Banana cake awaiting slicing

Cupcakes with hats of icing

Carrot cake wickedly enticing.

We put pen to paper, read stories untold

Suddenly making words unfold

We strolled outside where snowflakes fell

Inhaling fresh air and the farm’s pungent smell

Badger the sheepdog in slumbered sleep

His sheep had a ‘sheep-over’ perhaps with Bo Peep.

Lunch at one and to say the least

The oak table was laden with a splendid feast.

The venue and course were well above par

I would rate it a full five star.
